i wanted tell folks in 3 years i've owned macbook (my god, seems yesterday bought it. universe speeding up...please make stop), i've experienced couple of things thought because of failed hardware.
first external dvd burners , hd's disconnecting @ random , while transfers/burning. other started happening....the cursor pointer started acting crazy.....not letting go of items clicked on...always dragging around marquee....not being able click on things...contextual menus coming no reason....plus whenever wanted highlight , name item, wouldn't let me...plus other not obvious weird overall behaviour.
both times, thankfully, doing hradware reset cured problems. when i'm thinking macbooks broken, fixed it. ymmv, if have bad problems, this'd worth try....its fast , simple.
thing is, macbook has removable battery, don't know how work these newfangled built in batteries...you'd have find out how on machines..
anyways, disconnect out board gear, remove battery, hold down power button @ least ten seconds. drains residual power , resets hardware. put battery in , issues resolved
thanks posting tip, think new or inexperienced users need careful if they're going open computers. invalidates warranty.
thought newest macbooks had removable battery - don't know why they'd go built-in one. maybe it's discourage people messing around in there , damaging something. don't think lighter , wouldn't make repairs easier.
