ok, first post, have followed site religiously quite time. anyway, figured let experts on forum me out.
bought new mbp 15'' i5. im still waiting arrive, new investment, want know best way data. hear "time capsules" have gotten bad reviews (short life) wanted see guys think. use airport extreme wireless router , wondering if plug usb external hd in of run time machine software? if so, best brand of hd buy, , how space feasible? money not issue @ point considering how paid mbp. advice great! in advance!

brand of hd not matter much. it's small detail. theu fail expect , plan it.
space? figure on double size of data needs backed up. more better , 1.5 practical minimum. today 1tb drives deals @ $100 or less. not use tm drive other purpose tm. buy external drive if need space.
next.. buy 2 or 3 of these , rotate them safe place, not in same building. if rotate time machine drives every week of if 1 fails, no big deal have 2 other backups. , tm drive fail, don't know when. in week or 5 years
theft of equipment #1 cause of data loss, don't have tm drive , computer in same room. can leave 1 in there because wil have 3 in different locations
buy firewire 800 if can. if faster usb. , worth $25
