Brushes not available Ilstrtr CS2 when opening pdf's

i've got lot of pdf's go through , i'm using standard brush scribbles on existing artwork exagerate area's i'm talking client.
have manually open brush library each time (also swatch library colours) display brushes. tiresome.
have opened cmyk , rgb preferences, affects when new folder created, brushes available select . i'm opening existing files , preference not seem replicated .
ideas have existing brushes , swatches ready without unduly process of opening libraries each pdf open .
