Display problems--> i5 now, or SSD now and wait for Sandy Bridge?

i have 2007 mbp, 15", 2.2 ghz c2d, 1 of first led backlight. it's developed several bright lines/spots, has gone wrong display. it's annoying--much worse stuck pixels--but not point can't use it.

before problem display had developed, i'd been thinking getting ssd , waiting until sandy bridge came out upgrade new mbp, presumably time next year. now, display problem, i've been envying new i5 high-res 15" screens.

display problem worsen, making smarter move i5 now? or should ssd , wait out? performance-wise, fine except aperture 3 , 18mp raw files

here photo of display. can see wiggly line @ bottom right of display, bright stop , right of that, bright spot more , left of line. it's worse in real life looks in photo.

 

am correct assume don't have warranty or it's expired?

how using laptop nowadays, on desk or carrying around? reason asked extend life of laptop using external monitor , wait out.

find monitor replacement fix if feel it.
