so have gmail set via imap on ipad. seems me when screen off email delayed. when go mail application see mail application waking , checking email , can see new messages arriving.
when in sleep mode (screen turned off), hear sound new mail came in..
normal behavior? how prevent sleep mode?

you don't want prevent sleep mode of ipad, it'll drain battery.
have gmail set fetch every 30 minutes on ipad ... believe working.
