disclaimer: i'm not worst person know stuff this--i accept prized possessions come show age on time no matter how careful them. it's side-effect of using something. when said prized possession less 72 hours old me , it's developing "patina", bugs me.
couple of days after got shiny new mpb, noticed little pixel-size gray/black speck next trackpad refused washed off damp cloth. looked suspiciously small scratch in finish--small enough thought might have been there along, more looked @ it, bigger gotnoticed small scuff in finish directly above trackpad , ocd kicked in. found handful of similar scuffs in various areas on mpb's case , while these no big deal, still had @ least attempt rid of them.

had used staedtler plastic eraser remove scuffs watch crystal before, , thought, "what hell!" , gently rubbed gray/black speck , delight, vanished instantly. ditto other random scuffs on rest of case. eraser literally erases them.
thought share pathetic yet triumphant tale other ocd sufferers out there hoping restore mpb's brushed aluminum former glory. bear in mind won't work in areas finish worn or scratched off, scuffs in brushed aluminum coating trick. go easy on it--rub , you'll doing more harm good.
