trying use apple composite av cable

in combination ipad. can somehow not play image information (video or pictures). have tested on 3 different tv sets, without positive results. thing audio playback if try play movie. have rca connectors connected respective (red, yellow audio , white video signal) connectors of tv set. tried many different settings, including fbas , yc signal input. different tv norms (ntsc , pal, located in germany, pal should correct choice), , tried enable , disable widescreen. tried change between ntsc , pal on tv set without success.
tried movies youtube, , still images via photos> slideshow feature. no success. movies play on ipad screen. may version of ipad can report on settings>video menu. have choice: tv out , widescreen (on , off) , tv signal (pal or ntsc), there nothing else alter. version have tv out on or so?
