solidworks on macbook pro, graphics card questions

hey all-

i'll heading school year graduate id program after working me/product designer 8 years. students in program recommend macbook pro ease , speed of video editing, etc, , thinking of getting mbp 15" i5/nvidia gt 330m 512mb combo. however, don't want give occasional ability solidworks/proe on 3d bodies complex surfaces given background, , concerned lower end graphics card give me problems. please educate me on can expect card.

use external screens @ home design work , student portability must me. figure i'll have access school labs both windows , mac systems use instances when need heavy lifting rendering textures, etc....but due ergo issues, prefer use own optimized set-up @ home as possible....so hesitancy going mbp boils down graphics card.

question are:

1) 330m comparable graphics card 9600 in previous models design needs?
2) has has used 330m or 9600 solidworks used rendering or complex surface modeling , results? under load system start stressed?
3) going notice performance difference between 256mb , 512mb on low end of graphics card?

answers these questions me make decision, rather recommendation w/o supporting info. can't imagine working assemblies on 50 parts while in school, focus on industrial design imagine parts have complex surfaces tapering , blends rather orthogonal surfaces. i'm concerned graphics card not sufficient design needs, have used high-end graphics cards on windows machine. if can share types of models work on mbp, helpful too.

thanks!
