i wondering if bought right piece of equipment.
here have had:
cable modem --> airport, wirelessly connected 2 macs.
problem 1 of macs not getting wireless signal, still not sure why. got idea of running 50 ft ethernet cable mac issues modem. however, still need have airport , running wireless connection.
new setup looks this:
cable modem --> ethernet switch. switch connected both mac pro, , airport. mac pro still works, can't seem access internet 2nd computer, running on airport.
did wrong equipment when got switch?
(in case matters, got netgear fast ethernet switch fs105.

that's because try dial in 2 devices. ae used dialing internet using modem, have set mac pro dial too. it's called pppoe, , 1 device can that. ae better suited, more 1 user can access internet.
maybe sell ae , switch , buy airport extreme base station.
