New to dSLR,£700 budget, what do you recommened?

hi everybody,

i'm relatively new dslr, owned canon 35mm in past , canon ixus 40 p&s, p&s imho.

buy new dslr, liked photography. did few courses in past have still lots learn.

narrowed search following cameras:

- d90 18-105 vr kit (£719 cash back)
- d5000 18-55 vr kit (£479)
- canon 500 18-55 kit (around £600)

i'm not interested in other brands, has either nikon or canon. non interested in 2nd hand either.

checked many (many!) on-line reviews , seem suggest d90 camera.

d90 18-105 vr kit lens favourite right now. don't have lenses right now, af or brand not problem me.

understand it'll replaced soon. think should wait until d90 successor out cheaper price on d90?

i'll have baby in 3 weeks , 1 of reason why thinking of getting decent camera...

help!

what want camera? familiar nikon stuff, people seem suggest eos 550d has best video mode. important? might if you're having baby. know isn't 1 of current options.

have held these cameras? when got first dslr went shop thinking 'the eos 300d has reviews, , it's cheap, i'll 1 of those'. came out nikon d70 because preferred body , lens (and in days canon slow). worth finding somewhere cameras. jessops have them if you're not near independent store.

d90 great camera, fab quality, great screen, etc. don't suppose can go wrong. unless don't need money d5000 take shots of identical quality, , invest in, say, 35mm f/1.8 dx top-quality prime action. also, consider lens needs, d90 , 18-55 vr might nice. i'm sure know d5000 lacks in-body focus motor.

oh, if you're shooting indoors, flash doesn't hurt! don't take many indoor shots have cheap jessops brand flashgun works fine i-ttl on dslr, nikons sb600 have significant advantages particularly cameras have commander mode, d90, off camera work. realistically sb400 fine.

it's trade-offs, cheaper camera , lens , flash? more expensive camera no flash? etc.
