Great BTO/i7 vs. Standard/i5 review

hope isn't sort of heresy posting macworld article, found pretty informative in deciding on next mac.

new built-to-order macbook pros

benchmarks compared between standard high-end 15" (i7 w/ 4gb ram, 5400rpm hd) , upgraded 15" 8gb ram , 7200rpm hd. comparisons further made between standard 17" (i5 w/ 4gb ram) , built order i7 option.

bottom line (if don't want read it) processor , ram aren't giving huge increases. gains seen in processor intensive stuff, gains aren't huge. pretty sold on upgrading 17" i7, think i'll save $200.

further tests made comparing 27" quad core imac best. makes me want imac serious work (i have current macbook hooked 24" screen now) , ipad casual lounging in bed web surfing, can't quite make leap yet.

and didn't guess that. has been little value in cpu upgrade.
thing why thought corei7 on 15" because of 512mb vram.
