Macbook won't boot to leopard disc (Completely wiping hard-drive!)

a while ago mac went kaput after normal shutdown, couldn't boot os x or os x disc (also tried friend's check wasn't disc's fault).

luckily had ubuntu installed using bootcamp , still boot that.
after trying every troubleshooting guide on internet (that can find) nothing has worked.
thinking may have been corruption os x reformatted mac partition. (i did not touch efi)
in moment of weakness installed ubuntu 10.4 on partition os x used live.
not boot apart ubuntu live cd.

still have not removed efi & if hold option on boot displays mouse no bootable drives (except live disc/os x disc when it's in)

cut long story short after few months of no os x , living temporary solution i'm tired , want fixed.

in mind i'm considering final option, wiping hard-drive , trying boot os x disc.

can think of reason why wouldn't work? have been able run hardware check off os x disc threw no problems.

appreciated, i'm tired , love solution problem.

in advance
