Issues with files on an SMB share

i'm running mac osx 10.4.11, , i'm trying connect smb share @ office.

have no issues connecting, once i'm there files weird. it's server thinks i'm pc. lots of files showing 0kb these strange-looking icons. , in info, says unix executable files. they're not!
