i have late-2006 c2d macbook 500gb internal drive (running latest version of 10.6). i'm looking @ replacing 13" mb pro, comes 250gb hd. want put 500gb drive in pro while keeping contents.
possible pop 500gb drive new machine? there issues given differences between machines?
of course, can "just pop 500gb drive new machine" question of whether or not installation of 10.6 work new machine matter, so... maybe. hardware different graphics chip, doubt startup without issues. however, if startup snow leopard dvd install disk after putting old hd in, , os installation, works archive , install, leaving user settings intact, may ok. in case, suggest doing backup of data on old disk before try installing in new machine. then, in case clean install (format , install) necessary ok.
still, depending on how old 500gb disk is, may better off buying new 500gb (hitachi or seagate recommended) hd technology has improved lot in last 4 years since 2006.
