Replacing a dying graphics card :(

you can skip stuff in blue if like, pretty explaining went wrong mac , attempts fix it, main question @ bottom.

hi, bought mac pro in 2008 , has worked until recently, when believe started suffer kernel panic (a grey screen during boot telling me restart computer) ran fsck after being advised , managed boot once or twice before failing again, re-installed os startup disk, again let me boot couple of times.

bootcamp partition has blue dots on screen during boot disappear after logging on. windows side said there problem graphics card, took out , cleaned it, put in , re-installed drivers in bootcamp. allowed boot fine in windows , mac os' day before started getting kernel panics again.

took mac store , said agreed graphics card causing problems, said fix it. mac out of warranty , student dont have 400 pounds spare, , hopping replace myself.

so 2 questions are:
1: agree graphics card problem
2: if graphics cards compatible mac pro's
