...and absolutely love it! have 2008 aluminum 2ghz macbook (aluminum), , added ssd replaced 160gb hdd sped things bit. more bit. boot usable desktop in less 14 seconds flat. computer is, pretty rad.
goes show how capable hardware is. graphic design student in adobe creative suite throughout day. spend quite bit of time in word doing papers school. love fact programs responsive now. intel x-25 80gb perfect me. have 40 gigs of apps 3 gig iphoto library. used internal drive replaced itunes , dowloads drive , works perfect 30 or gigs of music.
did buy external sata usb drve use 320gb 7200 hitachi bought off ebay. when plug in , turn on @ home, system up. storage. got little notebook drive carry everywhere , home solution. things grand now.
never realized how of bottleneck hard drive can cpu. when put ssd in computer, 2.0ghz c2d chip can speed through of todays applications. finding working large images (over 100megs) breeze , loading brushes , filters, etc.
if want performance out of computer urge drop in ssd. have had drive filled test out , resides comfortable @ 40 gigs of 80. have noticed no degredation in performance in drive either. when installed did install time machine backup , last week decided clean reformat , install of (which easy using osx, less of headache using windows). used loathe formatting in windows. in osx took better part of afternoon. if missed something, went backup on home storage , pulled backup disk. nice.
installing drive in macbook particularly easy, though didn't have required torq driver. used pliers , gripped each screw firm , used enough pressure unlock screw , unscrewed them hand. repeated process in reverse them on again.
absolute first thing should when getting ssd, one, update firmware. noticed 10% increase in performance drive. well.... maybe 5-10%. disabled sudden motion sensor in macbook ssd has own. got nifty program called smartsleep , enabled classic sleep mode when computer sleeps doesn't write ram contents disk. deleted hiberante file (got 4 gigs of space in process).
needless best 230 bucks have spent in recent times. other upgrading ram 4gbs in mac, have not done else. speedy enough me use whatever. think sit refresh out , wait next macbook pro refresh. ssd drives let squeeze nice performance computer , worth it. 1 happy camper. followed advice , got x-25 , not more pleased.
recall saying, "just intel gen-2 1 , use hell out of , don't worry." add shutting down macbook amazingly fast too. reference, have had many hard drives , few 7200rpm drives , far absolute best. intel, done.
, now.. must go play warcraft 3 or torchlight till wife gets off work. : ) way, off topic know, there update sixtyforce , n64 games play dream. : )
