i own macbook pro (late 2008, input). teaching guitar lessons on skype , know how can talk microphone while having electric guitar plugged in input person on other end of chat can hear both voice , guitar. right now, can either choose microphone or guitar input. plugging guitar through amplifier not possible me.

the simple , cheap way use mixer. makie makes 4x2 mixer $100. plug whatever mixer adjust relative volumes , pan each input left or right , the output of mixer goes computer.
same usb or firewire audio interface. of these hace @ least 2 inputs bt software setup little more compex. mixer mixing otside of computer.
@ item in link below. notice has xlr input mic , 1/4" inputs thatcould work guitar. headphone juack nice too, can hear without causing feedback microphone
