so have mbp unibody 13" 2.26ghz , upgraded 4gb of ram.
did have upgraded wd 640gb 5200rpm harddrive had, dj laptop, need space possible.
purchased wd 1tb harddrive, , put in mbp , transferred music along 500gbs of music.
use program called "virtual dj" hooks midi controller use mix with.
before when having 300ish gigs of music computer ran champ, not lag, or anything. have upgraded 1tb harddrive , added 500gb laptop, runs ok, not quick before , lags every once in awhile.
ive watched cpu , go 20% use 80% , mellow out around 50% when im searching music. ram thats free 1.5gb's.
i'm wondering should do, upgrading 8gigs solve lagging issue?

what model number wd drive? 1tb version of 500gb have put in mbp? (wdc wd5000bevt-22a0rt0)
reason ask these drives have power-saving feature built-in conflicts sudden motion sensor built-in mac notebooks. causes drive spin down , spin every few seconds causing lag. you'll notice faint clicking sound when put ear near hard drive right of trackpad. remedied problem. wondering if issue same yours first though.
