step out , myself new mbp - trading powerbook g4!
main uses are:
web development, simple coding stuff (my current powerbook g4 fine this).
photoshop - can quite large files, , way work have many open @ once.
video rendering. processing , editing.
@ same time above have email clients, various browsers (with multiple tabs), twitter clients, skype etc open ...
in mind, there major differences between i5 or i7 processes or larger (512mb) video card in i7. if go i7 fork money 7200rpm drive aswell.
both have hirez screen.
have read bare feats review http://www.barefeats.com/mbpp18.html undertand looking @ improved performance, video card? matter @ all?

get 2.4ghz , upgrade ram 8gb seem lot multitasking. gpu same, vram amount different makes no difference 330m can't take advantage of 256mb
