i'm hoping can me jailbroken iphone 3g problem.
bought jailbroken iphone 3g 8gb off on craigslist 2 months ago. got thought agreat deal. got home , seemed work fine. able make calls, on internet , apps worked.
tried download 1 of favorite apps app store app , got message said needed upgrade latest iphone os version when tried plugging iphone macbook pro, unable recognize it. itunes wouldn't recognize , iphone icon did not pop on mycomputer anywhere. tried on old powerbook , wife's ibook , still, nothing.
per other people's advice, tried recovering phone , putting it's natural state have been unable even. took local apple store , clerk there tried doing came , said there nothing do, phone pretty bricked good. minute later suggested have them fix cost me amount of money. phone being bricked, right?
didn't have money have fixed turned off phone , put in drawer wouldn't have @ it. it's been there ever since.
so, late night, took out, powered , tried erase data deal in settings on iphone. figured maybe rid of craigslist sellers' contact info, text messages , what-not , try sell cheap might able fix it. once hit 'are sure want erase al data?' message, hit 'yes' button , got message said take hour process go through.
phone went black , seemed keep powering on , off during time. apple logo (with black background) appear, little swirly round indicator thingy turning around come dead stop , sit there 5 , 10 minutes, seemingly doing nothing. decided ignore , let it's business 3 hours , nothing changed. went bed , morning, looked @ iphone , same thing: black background, apple logo, round thingy in middle, off, , more of same.
still, nothing happening.
tried re-booting , nothing has changed.
before @ least access , use phone can't anything.
hate think got burned on iphone. i'm sure did if there out there can suggest helpful way of restoring iphone 3g, appreciative.

try putting in dfu restore.
research before messing it...erase content , settings instance...
erased all data, not personal info previous seller.
more research have pointed fact 'erase content , settings' ruins jail broken iphone.
hope can , running again.
