everytime press power button, white power led comes on few seconds, , hear fan noise machine "clicks" off, if removed power cord abruptly. needless say, didn't remove power nor supply interrupted. i've tried diagnosing problem removing external devices 1 one, made no difference. i've tried possible resets etc.

try re-seating ram modules , graphics card.
has fixed similar problems mac pro (which same model yours)
if doesn't work, try re-setting pram battery.
