well folks, took dive off deep end , bought final cut express 4 , loaded onto new macbook pro intel i7. made jump up. jump comes growing pains. fce overwhelming, lots of knobs , buttons everywhere, i'm sure take me while understand advantages on imovie series took granted.
here's first problem - started new "dv ntsc 48khz" project in fce because can't find option select natural 16:9 aspect (widescreen) footage. overlooking or should selecting different?
second problem, part of first - have 15 hours of footage shot cannon hdd standard def camcorder captured footage in 16:9 widescreen aspect (not 4:3 sd aspect - specifally set 16:9 aspect sd). no, cannon not high def camcorder; records in standard def. captures widescreen. said, setting supposed select in fce "easy set-up" console maintain 16:9 sequences project? if stick "dv ntsc 48khz" project, fce ingests 16:9 footage anamorphically 4:3 cannot tolerate. isn't there way avoid "anamorphing" altogether???
in easy setup there should "dv ntsc anamorphic" not have option?
btw, when import way speak, doesn't import anamorphically, imports , letterboxes 4:3 .. that's trying avoid, right? want canvas 16:9.
