hello,
mail.app setup using imap gmail account. i've noticed mail.app randomly decides download imap messages on again @ random intervals (could few days, few weeks). i've noticed behavior on both of computers, additionally know other people same issue. here have issue well? if so, problem?

check incoming mail port , rule settings
imap account tries match stored on server periodically synching it. if checking mail @ pop server instead (e.g., wrong port setting), mail may come back. check server settings sure have imap port set properly.
when switched pop mail imap account, had strange rule setting copying mail pop account imap account. don't remember how set concerned switch on imap , wanted sure getting mail messages. after deleting rule, think remedied situation of inadvertent email recovery. sure check of macs using because may take 1 rule 1 of mail clients on multiple computers using goof things up.
sorry don't remember did wrong (right fix it) has been year now.
