Dell ST2410 Monitor - best resolution settings???

hey all.

got dell st2410 24" monitor 2009 13" macbook pro. excellent monitor ... lot.

dell website says "optimal resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz" , have resolution set @ this. using these settings there black bars down right , left hand side of monitor. loses me screen real estate.

wondering if knew ways rid of black bars? also, best resolution setting screen , macbook?

probably typo. set @ highest resolution available, 60 hz refresh rate.
