six months or ago, picked learning vb.net , created large application organization. have decent vb knowledge , mild c programming knowledge. (i can read , interpret c, writing syntax consistently story, still lots of trial , error)
because 1 of mac users in department, , have programming ability...my organization has asked if possible me create internal iphone application allow physicians have access medical staff directory (other physicians).
main staff system (visual cactus) stores of data ms sql database. know creating app can communicate sql newbie cocoa , xcode not going have success with. mac application.. maybe, iphone app story.
plan:
have db export needed data (name/phone/etc) xml file daily/weekly. file can accessed online or downloaded iphone application. perhaps cache last xml , grab new 1 if available. (not sure on iphone app limitations)
understand, way more palatable newbie xcode create app read xml.
thoughts or opinions on this? know should know before going after it, find way easier learn when have mission behind it. also, resources introduce xcode coming visual studio 2008? (there ways develop both, i'd prefer tackle 1 natively in cocoa, have learn sometime)
also, if sees better way. means tell me.
forgot mention, app (at version 1) should able list directory , perhaps dial listed number. thats initial goal anyway.
