first off want im happy 500gb seagate momentus 7200.4. exchanged hitachi 7k500 when got hitachi noticed significant battery loss, louder whooshing sound of time, , hotter temps seagate. convinced me hitachi, after having both switched right seagate obvious reasons.
seagate has been working excellent, quite, no noticeable drop in battery, , it's fast hell. 19-21 sec boot time here.
anyways, if new hard drive, recommend install hdapm keep load cycle down , avoid clicks if have them. if install smart utility , check load cycle count, notice load cycle count of hard drive close 10k after month. high. hdapm keeps load cycle way down. first seagate 10k after 3-4 weeks, hitachi. iv installed hdapm on hard drive , im @ 245 load cycle count after 3-4 weeks. great considering drives supposed until 600k.
if have trouble installing can you. had trouble have method works. took multiple tutorials people had written , had use few steps each.

think current macbooks come 250 gb hitachi drives running @ 5400 rpm, , silent, pretty fast, , battery life. wonder if seagate 7200 decreases battery life lot?
