Experiment: Dual 64GB SSD in RAID 0...

i thought lots of fun take 2 64gb crucial m225 solid-state drives , install them both in 13'' macbook pro in raid 0 (striped) configuration. know ssds fast already, have them work in paralell 1 larger 128gb ssd deliver amazing speed.

quick purchase of bay mount drive optical superdrive allowed easy install of both ssds internally. snow leopard installer let me set raid install system it.

whopping 10 minutes later , running.

let's see results!

xbench 2.0's results:
sequential:
uncached write: 252.29 mb/sec (4k blocks)
uncached write: 310.1 mb/sec (256k blocks)
uncached read: 55.31 mb/sec (4k blocks)
uncached read: 342.1 mb/sec (256k blocks)
random:
uncached write: 25.7 mb/sec (4k blocks)
uncached write: 230.7 mb/sec (256k blocks)
uncached read: 26.5 mb/sec (4k blocks)
uncached erad: 210.24 mb/sec (256k blocks)

boots in matter of seconds, under ten!

has else delighted in solid state bliss , has reports? bad reports?

here's video way of opening every single program on laptop @ once , seeing load times or lack thereof:

wonder if can sell laptop , buy myself kind of 15" 9600gt... first-gen 1 do.

interesting ~~~ computer boots rather slowly. ??? might want try repair disk permissions, etc.

what's overall xbench disk #?

i'm using 1 of same drives in 13" mbp , getting xbench of 205. small block read/writes on these drives weak link m225's. boots in 16 seconds!

fwiw, ordered c300 128gb drive 15" mbp today. i'm setting laptop 500gb 7200 rpm hd in optical drive slot.

cheers
