MacBook Pro for a Graphic Design student

i posted in design , graphics section because wanted opinions of people in same field concerning question. i've done lot of research on these forums trying decide 15" macbook pro should get, , narrowed down option either entry-level 15" or high-end 15", main difference being additional 256mb of vram. i'm going high-resolution anti-glare options.

using computer (my first mac purchase btw) @ least couple of years after graduate (i still have 2 years until graduate, in total want last 4 years), therefore want suit needs student , starting graphic designer later on.

question is, 512mb of vram noticeably better software adobe photoshop, indesign, illustrator , after effects cs5? or 256mb enough?

i'd appreciate replies :)

i operate ssd loads brushes , ultra large images nice.
more ram better. adobe chow down on it. invest in desktop 1080p or better monitor. use 1 in sig, , love it. student, 150 bucks spent on pretty affordable. 250$ intel ssd , have pretty capable adobe machine.

now, have 2008 aluminum 2ghz macbook even. hooked 1080p monitor handles whatever throw @ it. should invest in graphics drawing tablet. use magic mouse , love in work.
