Where is the iPhone OS on the hard drive?

the apple store kindly replaced erratic iphone today. said software might corrupt. os package on leopard can delete , download fresh version?

 

i can't check right because machine sync in windows, looks may in:
~/library/itunes/iphone_software_updates

in case want, can go link , put short name there , iphone type/version @ end (it's 3g 3.1.3).
