software: cs3 photoshop 10.0.1, macosx 10.5.8
problem: until had been using photoshop cs3 , various versions of leopard (including 10.5.8 while now) without issues. launching photoshop & attempting use of tools on toolbar gives me following error message: "could not complete request because of program error."
have searched around solutions, , found many try. unfortunately, still not have permanent solution. here have tried (without success):
•checking mac updates
•checking see if hard disk needed repair (it didn't) via disk utility
•verify & repair disk permissions using disk utility
•deleting photoshop prefs (by holding command-option-shift @ program launch)
•launching & quitting photoshop in safe mode, restarting
•reinstalling photoshop
•repair disk permissions (again) using cocktail program
•emptying caches using cocktail (i selected every possible cache under 'options')
•holding command-s @ chime , typing "fsck -fy" (it checked many things , said hd normal)
note photoshop does work correctly in safe mode. also, created second account (i used have 1 account) , photoshop works fine in second account.
of course, having login account every time want use photoshop highly annoying. have ideas of else try?
