have late 2008 15-inch unibody macbook pro, 4gb ram , 2.53 ghz cpu.
in past week, built-in isight has failed during skype video calls. more specifically, let's i'm in video call , i'm showing webcam other person. works many minutes, , pause call. pause it, message saying "no video camera detected, make sure it's plugged in", , on system acts if there no isight installed if un-pause call.
if go other application makes use of isight, photo booth example, says there no camera installed on system, crossed-out camera icon , black screen in place of video.
if go system profiler, camera shows fine under usb.
if reboot system, returns normal, camera works again. however, problem re-appears soon, after few minutes of skype-ing. happens every time pause video call, however, has happened couple of times when didn't pause it.
i ask whether knows such problem, , whether can propose solution.
if not, ask whether there terminal command restart camera hardware or driver or something, don't have reboot 5 times day.
do have applecare? camera connected via internal usb connection logic board. it's possible camera faulty. think if need camera replaced replace entire display assembly since it's integrated.
