Permission restrictions while copying files from backup manually

hello,

running "chmodperation not permitted" when try change permissions on time machine backup manually.

here complete info. brought new macmini server , trying copy music folder time machine backup(of mbp) server. server logged in root , tried change file permissions of music folder command
sh-3.2# chmod -r o+rw music
throws above error.

don't have mbp me anykind of stuff. don't want install sl on macmini , restore time machine bckup. there other way.

i found solution myself. simple.
copy folder local drive(i used root) , change permissions. worked.
