Possible to make iMovie09 work ONLY off external drive?

hi guys!


after shooting dslrs years, thinking of getting first camcorder.

mbp has 160gb left after giving 100gb bootcamp, letting itunes , iphoto09 swallow part , worry storage editing, processing , exporting video.


have been thinking of getting 1 of western digital firewire800 drives.

possible set imovie09 use external drive 100%? in way can avoid having temp files , massive aic files on mbp hard drive?
