Mac sometimes completely freezes

this issue i've come across macs last few years & it's taken me until raise question why. it's not specific snow leopard.

sometime after using mac while freeze without explanation why. cpu below 50% , still has around 100mb free memory. if leave machine long enough state can quit few apps, still awfully slow until restart computer.

admit shut computer down, of time sleep repeatedly long 2/3 weeks... isn't specific issue machine, i've experienced on old ibook, imac & macbook pro.

there explanation this? - how can avoid happening, or should in habit of not leaving apps running when i'm not using them?

worth risking disabling dynamic pager?

wonder if it's usage of computer.

example, may install program causes issues?

or example, may leave lots of safari tabs open or leave documents open unnecessarily?

fact cpu/memory levels in ok, why should slow down?

possibly external drives?

whenever plug particular external drive seems upset computer...

 

please edit current post post updates have found.

100 mb little run os. consider upgrading ram.
