i noticed decent sized apps launched slower before. got spinning color wheel while before can use app. spinning beach ball reveals when switching modes within apps. might due hard drive became fragmented? os latest version of snow leopard. posts on internet says modern os x, not need worry defragmenting hard drive. have option of defragmenting hard drive if wanted to? if so, recommend me use? in advance!
run disk utility, repair permissions , verify disk
