know question has been asked on these forums (found forum through google of question) circumstances differ others.
first, graduated uni @ end of last year , working computer engineer @ company in same area ms (muhaha). have been windows user entire life until joined company devs use macs. use new 21.5" imac @ work encompasses 40-45 hours of day using svn , git (personal) projects. have 13" dell xps 1330 as new mac pro when got , still works well.
problem have learned love using macs software development , job requires me on call every 6 or weeks in-case of emergencies. looking @ 27" 8gb of ram , 2.8ghz processor (2,399) mac pro 15" 2199 better display (2,349). price isn't concern unsure if getting laptop required though haven't used desktop 2 years because love being able move.
suggestions, websites or thoughts of great help. supposedly imac due update , don't require now, thoughts when new imac released? oh 1 last question: is easy upgrade ram in macbooks?
first, don't think imac due update time (it updated fall, 2009). second, imac appears appreciably faster macbook pro, @ least according macworld magazine. here's quote their review of macbook pro 15":
that's not it's not great laptop, current core i5 , i7 imacs quite fast.
