i'm frequenter of macrumors forums have never had problem severe enough post about. noticed today, , has never been problem before. have wd passport use backup macbook , home pc, , copied office 2008 on there today got office 2011 beta. regardless, copied files few many times attempted delete them, , received error trash:
"the operation can’t completed because unexpected error occurred (error code -1407)."
wd has been giving me assorted strange issues lately, latest. none of them ever sever enough warrant me wiping drive. 1 issue there file in trash when it's plugged in, haven't ever tried hard rid of it's name "e577␀␀␀␀.␀␀␀" yes, correct characters @ end. has no size, , disappears when unmount drive.
can copy items onto , off drive, can't delete files them...any suggestions? ran verify disk, no red remarks.

don't mean hijack, having similar problem. except error is: operation can’t completed because unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).
restored imac factory install , dumped bunch of apps onto 1tb seagate ext. hard drive use up. getting full , timemachine suggested delete older backups make room newer. dumped bunch of apps , other files on drive , can't empty trash.
tried secure emtpy trash, tried of unix code can't find code was...
help!!
