i have wd mybook studio edition 1tb that's been ok year, it's been acting weird ordered advance replacement wd , in process of transferring stuff replacement drive.
old drive read , write fine few seconds, slows way down. example, copying files on right now, , blazed through 500 mb in few seconds, , it's taken 15 minutes 550 mb. wrong, i'm looking advice on how keep thing alive or speed few minutes while off of it. suggestions?
it might depend on size of files it's reading.
have done diagnostics on drive? recommend techtool pro. costs, it's worth money. recommend data rescue ii. these 2 tools 2 lines of defense in terms of a) diagnostics , b) data recovery in case goes wrong. both of these tools saved rear on @ least 1 occasion.
perform diagnostic of drive. in disk utility first , see tells you.
