I've lost some functionality in print dialog boxes

using leopard 10.5.8.

i'm not sure how happened, have lost ability change settings in print dialog boxes.

in print dialog box, top part of window allows select printer, presets, number of copies, whether or not want them collated, , pages.

below drop-down box typically displays application name. if select triangle in drop-down box, other options appear: layout, color options, paper handling, cover page , scheduler. of these options work fine.

below, these however, set of options all, assume, provided print driver. on hp photosmart c7200, available options are: two-sided printing, paper type/quality, borderless printing, hp real life technologies, , printer driver information.

if choose of these options appear in lower part of drop-down menu, nothing appears. application name remains in drop-down box. in other words, have lost ability choose two-sided printing, change paper type or print quality, cor hoose borderless printing.
