hi guys, couldn't find exact question hope don't mind me asking here:
imacs hdd has failed (sorta) , have appointment take approved repairers (no warranty). if indeed crapped out hdd , gets replaced, i'm assuming can simple restore time machine (i have wd firewire ex.hdd). issue have is, have moved house, , can't find snow leopard disk, have original leopard disk though. tm back-ups snow leopard installation. if repairers replace hdd , reinstall leopard original disks, can restore imac tm how before crapped out, or need install snow leopard first? i'm willing buy copy if can't find it, if can avoid will.
while on subject of tm restore, i'm assuming it's painless task do? first time i've had serious problem imac it's bit new me.

edit: been browsing around, looks replacing hard drive myself wouldn't difficult? had been considering upgrading 1tb. how know drives compatible? risky process replace myself?
