hi, today got 24" al imac, mid- 2008 model, , i'v had few problems it. first of when first booted , played around finder (as in looked @ apps etc) froze, , screen showed black , few colours , finder window wasnt moving, mouse was. tried relanch finder. nothing happend. restarted imac holding down power button. pretty doing first few hours had it. lanched app works 5 minutes mac gliches, , have restart it.
after manged update software ( latest itunes/ mac os x 10.6.3 ect) , hit f12 key , whent dashboard, froze did restarted mac. instead gave me bunch of vertical lines on screen during boot (showing apple logo), went desktop, whole screen bad. colours not sopposed be, , frozen. restared again, still gave me verticle lines , then... kernel panic. restared again, same thing. kernal panic.
question is video card/ logic board problem? or mac os x problem?
specs are: 3.06 ghz core 2 duo
2 gb ram
500 gb hdd
nvidia geforce 8800 gs 512mb gddr3 sdram
10.6.3 snow leopard.
**i got new imac replacement apple. apple!**
1. boot os x dvd , perform full disk repair.
2. wipe , install os x scratch.
