blackberry buff president obama declared war on technology yesterday — singling out apple’s super-popular ipods , ipads criticism.
obama — election credited, in part, skillful use of modern media, smart phones twitter flickr -- yesterday told college graduates high-tech gizmos , apps straining american democracy.

"with ipods , ipads , xboxes , playstations -- none of know how work -- information becomes distraction, diversion, form of entertainment, rather tool of empowerment, rather means of emancipation," obama said @ hampton university in virginia.

lobbing more grenades popular "call of duty" video game @ targets apple, microsoft, nintendo , sony, obama described companies' popular offerings distractions putting unnecessary pressure on country.

obama lamented spread of social media , blogs through "some of craziest claims can claim traction."

"all of not putting new pressures on you," obama said. "it putting new pressures on our country , on our democracy."

"we can't stop these changes," obama said, "but can adapt them. , education can allow so. can fortify you, did earlier generations, meet tests of own time."

obama, @ 1 time had rapper ludacris on ipod , still has white house-provided profile on facebook, warned world @ moment of "breathtaking change."

yet in speech before members of generation never knew life without computer, obama came close declaring technology -- , information spawns -- enemy.

"with many voices clamoring attention on blogs, on cable, on talk radio, can difficult, @ times, sift through all; know believe; figure out who's telling truth , who's not," obama said.

"let's face -- of craziest claims can gain traction. i've had experience myself. fortunately, you'll positioned navigate terrain."
