i'm in process of planning hackintosh file server can source data out mac pro in order have flexibility of replacing with, say, imac, if ever wanted to.
though server not going primary machine want have iapps-compatible dvd burner, has sata allow system installation on hack box. so, current "apple shipped/supported" optical drives guys , gals have in 2009 mac pros? (i searched forums , rest of net , didn't find answer.)

it's shouldn't matter - mac os supports sata disc drive. iapps care not make or model of optical drive long operating system can see in system profile. kinda have because drives replaceable on macpro's.
have reinstalled osx bunches of times on different computers retail os discs non standard components - if drive worked (mechanically speaking), installer discs work.
