hello there! i'll starting college fall. i'm not major gamer. extent of gaming sims series. enjoy free online flash game here , there. love surfing youtube, using itunes, uploading photos iphoto, using skype, etc. basic computer tasks.
i'm heading off school, i'm ready switch computers. i've had macbook pro last 4 years of high school (the core duo model). has been tried , true workhorse. moved around, though when had to, cumbersome addition ever-growing book bag.
fool considering air? ipad isn't going cut if college (i don't want ipad , mac laptop) , love ultra-portable that's easy pull out on desk , have piece of paper side. don't mind using bootcamp virtualization.
there still quality issues air revision a? wouldn't touch 1 of 5-foot stick. it's been long time since played around one. lack of cd-drive not bother me @ all. basically, want reliable machine (e price-point of air fine) doesn't stutter on youtube, last 4 years of college surfing web , doing microsoft office apps macbook pro core duo has, , overall portable machine. envision taking machine across globe me. yes, have big dreams.

13" mbp 1.5 lbs more air (3lbs. vs. 4.5lbs), same size (width/length, , height arguably same), has twice hd capacity, twice battery life (there times power jack isn't near in classroom, , want travel you'll need plenty of juice) faster processor, better gfx card, optical drive, , sd card slot camera.
if need 1 computer , looking @ air, forget it. 13" mbp option should consider.
you said it. os x relying more on gpu. machine has decent gpu inside. knows, might dabble graphics editing , appreciate power. either computer same size in soft case, , same size on desk. save $300, purchase mbp , thank in long run.
